By submitting to the Father, Jesus displays the glory of God, fulfills the Word of God, provides a way to God through the forgiveness of sin, and invites others to experience the glory of God and the love of God. 

The covenant love of Christ is transforming love. But covenant love does not say, “I will love you when you change to my desires.” Instead, covenant love says, “With the love of Christ, I will love you in order to bring about the change Christ desires.”

In the sinless Eden environment of Creation, there was no command to love. In the sinless Eden environment of eternity, there will be no command to love. In a world wrecked with sin, however, we are commanded to love God and others—because sin leads us to love ourselves. Yet, Jesus seeks to restore the intimacy and fellowship of Eden until we are no longer commanded to love—we freely offer the covenant love of God!

Marriage is not meant to be conditional, but covenantal—because our marriages are meant to both bring Eden to our families and to display the incredible covenantal love that Jesus to our spouse, our children, and the onlooking world.
