Follow the King

A true encounter with Jesus will always results in transforming, enduring change.

The grace of God that reveals Jesus to you is never just about you. Paul's testimony in Galatians 1 describes how Jesus was revealed to him in God's perfect timing—in order for Jews and Gentiles across the world to be invited into the covenant family of God through faith in the risen Messiah.

To the one who has tasted the sweetness of God’s grace, sin becomes bitter. The Gospel of grace does not ignore the bitterness of sin, but rejoices in the sweetness of God's love.

The Good News of the Gospel declares that my faith in the Person and work of Jesus is the only way to God, my right standing with God, and my continued growth in God. Any combination of faith and works is not good news—and is not the Gospel of Jesus!

In his letter to the Galatians, Paul confronts a group of believers who have turned from the Good News of the Gospel to the Fake News of the Judaizers. He opens by reminding the church of his apostleship, Jesus' deliverance, and their purpose in the kingdom of God.

Aaron Weakley delivered the Sunday message from Psalm 115. He shared how the Psalmist clearly tells us that we reflect what we worship.

Through belief in Jesus, He becomes the Cornerstone of your faith. Through rejection of Jesus, He becomes a stumbling block. As the Cornerstone of the New Testament temple, He has fulfilled all the Old Testament representations of the law, relief, judgment, victory, and worship.

The risen Messiah isn't looking for perfect followers, but is looking to perfect His followers through His loving, faithful work and the power of His Spirit.

Jesus never came to return the glory of God to the temple of Jerusalem. Jesus came to reveal that He was the temple of God—and as the Son of David to build a new temple, the church, as the means of unleashing the glory of God to the world.

Jesus clearly revealed Himself as the Messiah during the final days of His life. The crowds followed, the praises shouted, and the worship lifted—but the people were looking for their Messiah to save them from Rome and establish the kingdom of Israel. They missed their Messiah—and so do we when we look for Jesus to be who we want Him to be and do what we want Him to do.
