Follow the King

The Messiah is called the Son of David for many reasons—one of them being that the kingdom reigns of David and Jesus were both revealed in stages. This helps us understand how Jesus rules on the throne today while evil is present in our world today. As believers trust the King while living in the messy, “already, but not yet” kingdom, others witness that He is a King worth trusting. 

Why was it Good News to the world that Jesus the Messiah had arrived? Kings were born before. Kings have been born after. Why is the birth of this King good news to all people?

While Jesus fulfilled the biblical prophecies, He did not fulfill the personal expectations of the people—so they crucified Him. Yet, even today, when Jesus fails to meet our wants in the time and way we desire, we dismiss Him—looking to someone or something else for fulfillment.

As believers, we don’t give because Jesus needs what we have—we give to reflect who Jesus is.
